Someone who is “thrifty” values money, but not more than what it can buy. A thrifty person is smart about money, and is frugal, but not to the point of undue sacrifice.

Thrifty, spartan, and prudent are synonyms for frugal, a word that often has positive connotations when used to describe a person who lives a simple life.

A Cheap person is someone who doesn’t like to spend money. Cheap also means showing a lack of honesty and moral principles.
